There are increasing problems arising from the widespread availability of cheap and\u00a0high power\u00a0hand-held laser pointers,\u00a0particularly in the transportation industry where operating staff in aircraft, trains or even buses may require eye protection devices in order to avoid being dazzled or even\u00a0suffering eye damage. Iridian has introduced laser\u00a0reflection eye glasses, LaseReflect<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0designed to reflect\u00a0common laser lines. The reflection (blocking) bands are quite narrow so the overall light transmittance remains high (> 80%, important for night-time use) and the impact on\u00a0color balance is minimized.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/iridian.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/LaseReflect.jpg” align=”center” admin_label=”image-laser-reflect” _builder_version=”4.4.3″ width=”75%”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.3″]<\/p>\n LaseReflect<\/strong><\/em> glasses are designed to reflect the following five laser wavelengths:<\/p>\n \u2014Violet<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(405 nm)<\/span><\/p>\n \u2014Blue<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (445 nm)<\/span><\/p>\n \u2014Green<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(532 nm)<\/span><\/p>\n \u2014Red<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(650 nm)<\/span><\/p>\n \u2014Near-IR<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(1064 nm)<\/span><\/p>\n The charts below show the linear transmittance and the optical density (OD) of LaseReflect<\/strong><\/em> glasses.\u00a0 The reflectance is greater than 99% at these laser wavelengths over angles of incidence of \u00b1 35 degrees. These glasses also provide excellent UVA and UVB blocking and provide a very good overall color balance with\u00a0luminance transmittance\u00a0of 0.56.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/iridian.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/LaseReflect-chart-300dpi-with-reg-mark.jpg” align=”center” admin_label=”chart 2″ _builder_version=”4.4.3″ width=”75%”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.4.3″]<\/p>\n Notice: <\/strong><\/p>\n Light of other wavelengths WILL BE transmitted so there is no protection at other laser pointer wavelengths. A laser beam reflected off the glasses will be diffused over a range of angles so that the reflected laser beam intensity will be reduced after a few meters; however, it may still be intense close to the wearer of the glasses especially for high laser powers.
